The Bancroft Brewing Company will benefit from an investment announced today by Community Futures Development Corporation of North & Central Hastings and South Algonquin (CFDC), and Mike Bossio, Member of Parliament for Hastings−Lennox and Addington.
The CFDC of North & Central Hastings and South Algonquin is pleased to provide support for the expansion of a craft beer brewery with an investment of $86,700 under the Eastern Ontario Development Program’s Business Development stream. Through this investment, the Bancroft Brewing Company has expanded its manufacturing facility, purchased of a state-of-the-art automated control system and additional equipment to double brewing capacity and expand the product line. This expansion has been instrumental in sustaining five jobs and is projected to create two to three new full- time jobs in the near future.
Although brewing is one of Canada’s oldest industries, the Bancroft Brewing Company is the first establishment to commercially produce beer and spirits in Bancroft. The company is positioned to capitalize on the recent resurgence of the craft beer market and the business has become a desirable destination in the region. In the heart of downtown Bancroft, the business is a part of the Bancroft Eatery & Brew Pub, located in the historic “Bancroft Hotel” building on the corner of Bridge and Hastings Streets. The original building, built sometime in the 1850’s, was destroyed by fire in 1914 but was immediately rebuilt. Flash forward one hundred years to 2014 when one year after purchasing the building, the Krupas established a small brewing facility to complement the newly acquired restaurant and pub. From a nano-brewery to a micro-brewery in just three short years, the Bancroft Brewing Company continues to grow its business.

About the Bancroft Brewing Company:
When we first established our Craft Brewery we made a commitment to ourselves and our friends; our beers would be handcrafted using only the finest barley, hops and yeast in small batches to ensure the quality and distinctive tastes. Our water used comes from deep within the Canadian Shield, bubbling up through the cracks in ancient granite, naturally adding minerals which give our beers a unique taste found nowhere else in the world.
